Yesterday I wrote about the future of cloud computing. Today, I bring you two companies that are leading the way in cloud computing innovations: Google (GOOG) and Research in Motion (RIMM). What in the world is cloud computing? Here are a couple of definitions provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Wikipedia: Cloud computing enables convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of computing resources, such as networks, servers, storage, applications and services that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. Cloud computing is the Internet-based development and use of computer technology. Every day on my lunch break, I push away from the computer and crack open a book. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day because I get to travel to another time and place without ever leaving my office.
