An Interview with Mike Cintolo

December 21, 2011

For my last issue of 2011–a very challenging and, in many ways, confusing year for investors–our fantastic editor Elyse Andrews thought it would be a neat idea to interview me and get my thoughts on the market, what the future might hold and address some of the knowing questions on everyone’s mind.  Here’s what came out over our 30-minute chat. As this is my last issue of the year, I want to first wish you and yours the very best of holiday seasons, and to thank you for reading my (and all of our editors’) musings this year.  We...

A Great Healthcare Stock

I’m tired of the word “choppy.”  I’m tired of reading about choppy markets, stocks that chopped up and down, and sectors that are chopping around. Don’t writers know any other words? More importantly, don’t you think that when there’s such unanimity of opinion about the market, it’s ripe for a change? I think so, and I think the market’s next major move will be up. In this week’s Stock Market Video, Cabot Top Ten Trader Editor Mike Cintolo says that the market had a rough week and the sellers gained some traction. But the big picture remains the same, with the market stuck in a trading range. Mike discusses some important levels to watch among the sloppy, choppy action. Stocks discussed: Baidu (BIDU), Priceline.com (PCLN), Intuitive Surgical (ISRG), Google (GOOG), Rackspace Hosting (RAX), MercadoLibre (MELI) and GNC Holdings (GNC). Click below to watch the video!

A Blip on a Dismal Chart

I want to say a quick word about stocks that experience big price increases in daily trading. I can usually predict that I’ll get a couple of questions about any emerging markets stock that throws a double-digit percentage rise in a day. That kind of jump is just catnip to investors who are tired of a market grinding downtrend and hunger for some upside. My example is SinoHub (SIHI), a Chinese supply chain manager and order fulfillment service for cell-phone components that has suffered through a precipitous drop since it came public in August 2009. The stock hit its...
