roywardeditorA lifelong investment professional, J. Royden Ward applies his 40 years of investment research, portfolio management, writing and publishing experience to his role as analyst and editor of Cabot Benjamin Graham Value Letter. Cabot Benjamin Graham Value Letter is directed to long-term investors seeking a guide to profitable value investing based on the time-tested systems originally developed by Benjamin Graham. Since the 1930s, Benjamin Graham’s timeless value investing approach achieved returns of 20% per year with low risk regardless of the market’s ups and downs. Graham taught or influenced later investment gurus Warren Buffett, Mario Gabelli, John Neff, Michael Price, John Bogle—and Cabot Benjamin Graham Value Letter editor J. Royden Ward. A second-generation disciple of Benjamin Graham, Roy in 1969 pioneered the development of a computerized model that applied the formulas developed by Graham using a unique ranking system. Today, Roy applies his system to two models in the Value Letter. Prior to joining Cabot, Roy directed all facets of the investment divisions for several financial planning/investment advisor organizations and successfully managed and monitored the performance of 300 individual accounts for investors using stocks, bonds and mutual funds. paulgoodwinPaul Goodwin is a member of the Cabot investment team, and analyst and editor of Cabot China & Emerging Markets Report. Prior to joining Cabot, Paul was a senior financial writer for Putnam Investments’ international and institutional communications, writer and information designer for a consulting design firm, writer/editor of Trivial Pursuit games for Parker Brothers, professor at the University of New Hampshire, and a Chinese linguist for the U.S. Army Security Agency.

TomGarrityThomas Garrity is analyst and editor of the limited-subscription newsletter, Cabot Small-Cap Confidential. A lifelong investor, Tom has been a stockbroker, stock analyst, venture capitalist, and portfolio manager. His long career and varied experiences taught Tom to make investments only when the odds of winning significantly outweigh the risks. He applies this philosophy to every stock he recommends in Cabot Small-Cap Confidential.  Tom has developed a disciplined investment methodology using a series of qualitative and quantitative metrics that are evaluated for each company under his investment consideration. The company’s products must target large markets, the science or technology must be proven, the balance sheet must be strong enough to support research or investment activity, and the idea must be strong enough to attract future institutional investment. Tom’s analysis results in a portfolio of stocks of companies that are pioneers in their areas of business. In most cases, these companies are creating whole new micro-industries, providing essential tools for an entire industry’s growth. Because these stocks have little or no institutional or research coverage, Small-Cap Confidential subscribers can acquire significant positions in these companies more cheaply than if their stocks were widely followed. Tom is a licensed Security Analyst and holds a B.S. in Finance from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Regarding other opinion, a discussion of the current market trend may be of interest.

Folks recognize that a bear market started earlier this year. And for a few weeks now, we have been watching a rally develop while major market moves up and down have been exceeding 1% , 2%, 3% etc.

Many folks believe the recent market low point created a bottom and are looking for a return to a bull market near term.

My TA system displays a bear rally at this time and it is walking on fence. Meaning this rally may end any time and return to the bear to hibernation.

    Comments anyone?
