Stock Market Video: Leaning Bullish

In this week’s Stock Market Video, Cabot Top Ten Trader Editor Mike Cintolo says that the stock market sagged this week after a powerful kick-off in late June. Despite good action recently, the market has really been range-bound since February. But Mike says the blast-off signals that accompanied the recent breakout (and the terrible news floating around) indicate that the market is in good shape. So we’re leaning bullish, but not fully bullish. Stocks discussed: Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG), Lululemon Athletica (LULU), Netflix (NFLX), Under Armour (UA), Rosetta Resources (ROSE), Halliburton (HAL) and Rockwood Holdings (ROC). Taomee Holdings on a Path to Industry Domination

For those of us who grew up on books and records, there has always been something a little creepy about television and video being used as baby sitters. But there it is. I’m sure that the ready availability of Disney movies, Bob the Builder videos and on-screen friends from purple dinosaurs to big yellow birds and beyond has saved many parents’ sanity and lots of family car trips. As to the market, I’m very optimistic! We’ve got absolutely horrible economic news–high unemployment, the risk that the U.S. will default on its national debt and the risk that Greece/Italy/Spain will poison the euro and set off a global financial crisis. On the other hand, the stock market in recent weeks (with the exception of today) has performed superbly, fueled by buying power matched only a few times in the past decade. So which should you believe, the news or the market? You should believe the market, because the market reflects the opinions of all players with real skin...

Six Ways to Reduce Investing Risk

In the investing business, happily, even high risks are seldom fatal. But they can certainly hurt, and the sooner you learn to identify and eliminate the greatest risk factors in your own investing, the sooner you’ll be on the path to increased profits and decreased pain. Here are my six favorite ways to reduce risk. 1. Use market timing. When the market is in a confirmed downtrend, you should be in a defensive posture, keeping a lot of cash on the sideline or even selling short. This practice alone is a major reason that Cabot growth advisories like Cabot...
